The State Office of Risk Management (SORM) is looking for a service minded individual with experience in continuity of operations (COOP) to serve as an Enterprise Risk Specialist for Continuity Operations. This person will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and facilitate the evolution of enterprise risk management with a specialty in COOP. This specialist serves as the continuity of operations planner for the Office and is responsible for overseeing the Continuity of Operations Program for the state of Texas. This person works closely with Office staff and provides consultative services to other state agencies on their COOP plans for compliance with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other relevant standards. This person will collaborate with SORM COOP staff to organize and lead the Statewide Continuity Council, providing a forum for other agency COOP coordinators to collaborate on plan development; testing, training, and exercises, including Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Programs (HSEEP) compliant exercises; and updating relevant guidelines and resources.

The Texas State Office of Risk Management is administratively attached to the Office of the Attorney General and is governed by a five-member Board. The Office is charged by law to administer insurance services obtained by Texas state agencies, including the self-insured government employees workers’ compensation insurance program and the state risk management programs. Its mission is to enable State of Texas agencies to protect their employees, the general public, and the State’s physical and financial assets by reducing and controlling risk in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
