The State Office of Risk Management (SORM) is looking for a strong leader as the Director of Enterprise Risk to directly oversee the risk management and insurance programs for the State of Texas. As the director, you will provide guidance, leadership, and expertise for Enterprise Risk Specialists in risk management and insurance. You will also be instrumental in building client relationships and maintaining stakeholder expectations. You will work closely with other SORM leaders, client entities, and vendors, and have a familiarity in Texas state law and extensive knowledge of enterprise risk management principles. Responsibilities include: helping to develop the agency strategic plan, goals, and objectives; developing policies and procedures; reviewing state guidelines, rules, and regulations; establishing priorities, standards, and measurement tolls for determining progress in meeting goals; and coordinating and evaluating programs activities. This position requires a highly motivated and engaged individual with a positive attitude, sense of community, and passion for public service.

The Texas State Office of Risk Management is administratively attached to the Office of the Attorney General and is governed by a five-member Board. The Office is charged by law to administer insurance services obtained by Texas state agencies, including the self-insured government employees workers’ compensation insurance program and the state risk management programs. Its mission is to enable State of Texas agencies to protect their employees, the general public, and the State’s physical and financial assets by reducing and controlling risk in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
