On Tuesday, July 17, 2018, Executive Director, Stephen Vollbrecht, made leadership announcements to the Board of Directors of the State Office of Risk Management. Mr. Vollbrecht appointed Leonel Ramirez as Interim Director of Information Technology, and Felicia McGee as Senior Risk Manager for the Risk Management Unit of the Enterprise Risk Department.
“Mr. Ramirez’s appointment as Interim IT Director ensures a continuity of organizational leadership while we determine a permanent selection for the role. Leo shows a steadfast commitment to our core values and our key missions and has earned an immense degree of trust in SORM’s IT department, as well as all divisions of the Office,” said Mr. Vollbrecht.
Leonel Ramirez was awarded a 2017 Best of Texas Award for Outstanding IT Service and Support in state government, and has over 11 years of experience in information technology for the state. Prior to joining SORM in December of 2014, he held various positions in technology infrastructure and operations at the Comptroller of Public Accounts, Department of Motor Vehicles, and Department of Transportation. Mr. Ramirez graduated from St. Edward’s University with a Master of Science in Leadership and Change, and received his BBA in Computer Information Systems from Texas State University. He is also a graduate of the Executive Leadership for Information Technology Excellence (ELITE) program and the Management Development Program.
“Ms. McGee’s promotion comes after the departure of Frank Marcopolos, who previously held the Senior Risk Manager role,” said Mr. Vollbrecht. “I have full confidence in Felicia’s management of SORM’s risk managers, and assisting with overseeing operations of the risk management unit.”
Felicia McGee has over 20 years of experience in safety, risk management, and emergency management. She joined SORM in September 2017 after serving in the public and private sectors for Texas State University, Edwards Risk Management Inc., Lower Colorado River Authority, and the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission.
