On November 1, 2016, The State Office of Risk Management welcomed Ms. Iris Moore as Senior Insurance Manager of the Office. Ms. Moore will oversee operations of the insurance services unit, reporting to Ms. Michelle Tooley, Director of Risk Management and Chief Risk Officer. Iris comes to SORM from the Houston Independent School District, after prior account management experience with Brady Chapman Holland & Associates, Inc., and Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. She also worked with the risk management department at Texas Southern University while completing her undergraduate studies.
“We are very excited to have Iris join the team,” said Ms. Tooley. “She brings a wealth of knowledge in both private and public sectors in insurance and risk management, and I look forward to having her lend her expertise, especially as we announce and start managing our new insurance lines.”
After an extensive study on state agencies’ insurance purchases, the Board of Directors expanded SORM’s existing statewide insurance program portfolio to include builder’s risk, cyber, crime, fine arts, and extraterritorial workers’ compensation sponsored coverage. Currently, SORM provides coverage for property, automobile, directors and officers, and volunteer insurance for Texas state agencies.
“I look forward to developing SORM’s insurance lines over the coming years, addressing risks and protecting the assets of the state of Texas by ensuring the responsible investment of taxpayer dollars,” said Ms. Moore.
Ms. Moore holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Texas Southern University and a Master of Business Administration in Management from Our Lady of the Lake University. Ms. Moore has held a General Lines, Property and Casualty Insurance license since 2008 and obtained her Certified Insurance Services Representative certification from the National Alliance in 2013.
