SORM Announces New Chief Financial Officer

During the FY19Q3 board of directors meeting, the State Office of Risk Management announced the appointment of Ms. Lori Shaw as Chief Financial Officer effective July 30th, 2019. Ms. Shaw concurrently serves as SORM’s Director of Accounting and Finance. “Ms. Shaw exhibits a profound dedication to her role as a leader at SORM,” said Chief of Internal Operations, Brad Cargile. “She has a strong background in finance and is committed to SORM’s missions. This allowed me to make a very easy decision to promote her as the new CFO.” Ms. Shaw has 15 years of experience working for the state of Texas and joined the Office in 2007 in the Document Processing Department. She quickly advanced to the Accounting and Finance Department as an Accounting Technician and was promoted to a Senior Accountant in January 2015. With an advanced knowledge of SORM’s systems and data, Ms. Shaw continued to grow with the agency and transferred to SORM’s Information Technology Department as a Systems Analyst in 2015. As a leader in major agency IT projects, SORM’s Chief of Internal Operations recognized Ms. Shaw for her dedication, and promoted her to the Director of Accounting and Finance Department in September 2018. “I truly value the work of the agency and enjoy being a part of such supportive leadership,” said Ms. Shaw. “I look forward to expanding my expertise with SORM.” Ms. Shaw hold as Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and graduated from the Texas Fiscal Officers Academy in 2018.
