SORM is seeking a highly experienced Senior Training Consultant to serve as the Team Lead for the agency’s training program. This position performs highly advanced, senior-level training and development work, leading the design, delivery, modernization, and oversight of both internal and external trainings delivered by SORM.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this role serves as the lead subject-matter expert for training initiatives and provides advanced technical and functional leadership across SORM’s training portfolio. The position leads curriculum design and modernization efforts; creation of digital/virtual training courses; establishes instructional standards and best practices; develops, evaluates, updates and produces training content and materials; and ensures instructional quality and consistency across programs supporting both internal employees and external stakeholders. Work includes applying adult learning theory, instructional systems design, and recognized best practices to guide course development, instructional delivery, and continuous improvement. This position will also deliver trainings as needed for both SORM employees and external stakeholders.
Level of Complexity of State Classification: Highly Advanced
Level of Supervision of State Classification: Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

The Texas State Office of Risk Management is administratively attached to the Office of the Attorney General and is governed by a five-member Board. The Office is charged by law to administer insurance services obtained by Texas state agencies, including the self-insured government employees workers’ compensation insurance program and the state risk management programs. Its mission is to enable State of Texas agencies to protect their employees, the general public, and the State’s physical and financial assets by reducing and controlling risk in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
