The State Office of Risk Management announces the release of a new video updating procedures on what to do should an employee encounter an active attacker in the workplace. This video demonstrates the FBI’s recommended strategies for protection, evacuation, and defense: Avoid, Deny, Defend.
This training video is intended to ensure your employees are well educated and prepared for any kind of active attacker situation. Also included are supplemental materials that can be used around the workplace such as posters and reminders of the three main strategies.
Protection against an active attacker requires coordinated efforts to escape and reduce the potential for injuries or fatalities in these tragic situations. SORM recommends that agencies share this video and materials to train employees, and whenever possible, coordinate with law enforcement to conduct active attacker drills to effectively reduce panic and ensure readiness in such high-stress situations.
