Gerald Ladner, Sr., Becomes SORM’s Chairman of the Board of Directors

The State Office of Risk Management (Office/SORM) is thrilled to announce former board member, Gerald Ladner, Sr., as new Chairman of the Board of Directors. This announcement was made by the Office of the Governor on February 22, 2024. His term is set to expire on February 1, 2027. Mr. Ladner replaces former Chairman, Dr. Lloyd Garland, who retired from the board earlier this year.

Mr. Ladner visited SORM headquarters on March 26, 2024 to visit with staff and personally welcomed new member, Jeffrey Houston, as well as introduced him to the rest of the Board and the public during the April board Meeting.

“Mr. Ladner has been exceedingly engaged with leadership and staff at the Office since his first appointment to the board in 2016,” said Executive Director, Stephen Vollbrecht. “I respect Gerald as an advisor, and as the new presiding officer serving the agencies and people of the State of Texas.”

Mr. Ladner is a semi-retired property & casualty insurance company senior executive. His 42-year career included serving as vice president of Strategic Agent Partnerships and External Affairs, vice president of Sales, and Regional President for State Auto, a new division of Liberty Mutual. He also served as regional vice president for Zenith Insurance Company and Zurich North America. He is an Independent Board Director for Educational and Institutional Insurance Administrators, Inc. and member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas, Insurance Council of Texas, and the InfraGard National Members Alliance, an FBI-affiliated organization dedicated to the strengthening of national security and community resilience. Additionally, he is a Trustee for Rollins College located in Winter Park, Florida. Mr. Ladner received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Rollins College.
